What a shock - a new post!!!!!

Ok....Ok I know it's been awhile since I actually updated my blog. It seems that it takes holidays for me to actually write a post. Again I have been sewing up a storm this holidays and have to say I have loved it heaps. I kicked it all off with my iPad cover....I just love my new iPad 2 and although I bought one of the smart covers which looks after the screen it doesn't offer any protection to the back of the device so I made myself a littel fabric envelope. I used fabric strips from a honey bun roll from Moda...in blues and yellow. Again I just made it up as I went along but have to say it worked out perfectly. Check it out below.....

I also added some elastic strips which hold my mobile wireless internet device. I love this because I can now connect up to 5 devices to it....so iPad, ipod touch, laptop etc. It runs off a battery that lasts all day so I will be able to connect to the internet while on the road each day!!!

Next I made a range of Owl pot holders.....they are lined with insul-brite which makes them safe to use on hot items.....I didn't take a photo of the back but it is a matching owl print which is just sooooo cute. I have made 6 so far and have enough fabric to make another 6. I am thinking of selling them or I might just save them for Chrissy presents.

I also made some patchwork and quilted drink coasters from so left over scraps from my diary cover.....(whoops! I forgot to take a photo of that)

I have so other things that I have made so will come back again with another post so keep an eye out.

It's raining so I might as well sew!!

The rain keeps falling so that means I have to stay inside.....I don't want to think about school until next week so what better to distract me....some sewing.

Last year I bought myself an iPod Touch to use for work, it synchronises with my calendar, emails etc and can access wifi networking. It has been fantastic and I also love the apps that I have found for school and games, downloading tv shows etc. BUT I hate that my headphones always end up in a knotted mess in my handbag.....solution, make my own bag to keep everything in. I love how it turned out in the end.

When I started I had no pattern and was not really sure of measurements etc so things were made up as I went along. A little bit of patchwork, some quilting, add a little pocket to the front (to store the headphones neatly) and sew up a little bag complete with lining. I love how it worked out in the end.

Initially the plan was to put my Ipod into the bag with its old cover on.....but when I was finished it didn't fit, bugger! Ok the bag is a little too big for the ipod on its own, and how will I keep it closed....I know velcro.

I attched velcro to the inside, NOPE I wasn't really happy with it. Out came the unpicker...and goodbye velcro.

I decided to make a casing to thread in some cord/ribbon. The cord was uneven as it came out of the inside so I ended up changing it for some hat elastic....YEP! Happy and best of all the ipod can go in and out easily. Then I added a little clip so that I can attach it to the inside of my bag which will save lots of time searching for it when I need it. You can check out the finished product below.

Today's Creatvity

I haven't felt much like doing anything creative since Christmas....my craft room needed a tidy up to put things back into the places where they belong and I have been putting this off .... until last night. Don't know why but thought I would cover my notebook for this year at work. So after tidying up I got started and finished it off this morning.
Usually I have used an A5 sized notebook (which is easy to cover) but last year I fell in love with the A4 sized (Reflex) notebooks. The quality of the paper inside is fantastic - lovely white and heavier gsm than most. So this is my first A4 sized one that I have covered. I used some of my Stampin' Up! designer series paper, ribbon, alphabet stamps, scallop trim boarder and corner punches. The little heart is free swinging and in the photo it is backwards (I didn't notice when I took the photo, sorry) the heart is actually blue with a brown boarder and has 2011 on it. The spots on the butterflies are aslo glittered with kindy glitz.

Here is my other project completed today. I got a little canvas and stand for free at the craft show last year. It is only about 8cm tall. Today I painted it blue, added a little owl made from Stampin' Up! punch and some leaves for him to sit on. I have then stamped the word on the bottom. I am very happy with how it turned out and it will take pride of place on my desk at work.

My Family Christmas

Here is our Family Chrissy Present from my nephew Jaxon and his mum Cassandra. It was delivered to our door just before Christmas. The red and gold baubles are Ferrero Rocher chocolates with red and gold Lindt Choc stars in between. They are all individually wrapped with celophane around a wire to push into the foam wreath.Very Yummy! and easy to grab when you walk past.

Here is my version of the Gingerbread House....it was my first time ever to make and decorate one and I had a ball....it came with the plastic tray, pieces of gingerbread, icing and lollies...good value from Target.

I bought some new bowling balls for my dad off ebay....he picked them out but does not have an ebay or paypal account so I did it for him. When they were posted they were of course addressed to me, so I didn't let him open them. I checked that they had arrived safely and then wrapped them up to go under the Chrissy Tree! it nearly killed my dad having to wait 6 days before getting them, but he is one happy dad now!

After eating a full Christmas lunch dad suggested we watch a DVD cause there was nothing on TV and with all the rain outside it seemed like a good idea. Not long into the movie....dad went to sleep....this often happens to him after lunch but now I have photographic evidence!
Must have been all the excitement of getting his bowling balls!
Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and have plans to see in the New Year with style.

Owl Bookmark Card

Yesterday was CRAFT time with some friends - thanks Kerri, Kerry and Melissa....(we missed you Leanne and Nicole). Anyway I made some more of my treat box cards to give to special people in my life....just need to buy some more Chocolates to fill them up. I also made some of these owl cards. The paper clip makes the little owl removable and he/she can be used as a bookmark. I just love the stampin' up! owl punch cause these little critters are so cute and very easy to make when you don't have to cut anything out.
